Which area to stay in in Hong Kong....

When it comes to Hong Kong, it's all about the MTR.

Tsim Sha Tsui

In my opinion, the best area to stay in HK is Tsim Sha Tsui, owning to it's excellent transport connection to the rest of the tourist spots. Tsim Sha Tsui is a tourist spot itself with lots of restaurants and shops. On average if you stay in this area it would take you:

- 1 hour to Disneyland via MTR

- 20 min to Ocean Park via MTR

-10 min to Ladies Market via MTR

-8 min to Central via MTR

-5 minutes on foot to Star Ferry Pier

Popular Hotels:

The Salisbury YMCA Of Hong Kong

The Peninsula Hong Kong($$$)

Best Western Plus Hotel Kowloon

If you are very very rich with unlimited budget:

Rosewood Hong Kong

Tsim Sha Tsui East

Tsim Sha Tsui East, it's an area on it's own. It is a much quieter area then Tsim Sha Tsui, it has some great hotel properties there with good harbor views. Shops are mainly posh brands. Plenty of restaurants

- 45 min to Disneyland via MTR

-18 min to Ocean Park via MTR

-13 min to Ladies Market via MTR

-12 min to Central via MTR

-9 minutes on foot to Star Ferry Pier

Popular hotels:

Kowloon Shangri La

New World Millennium Hong Kong Hotel

Inter Continental Grand Stanford Hong Kong

Admiralty

Admiralty is in the Hong Kong Island. Admiralty itself is not much of a tourist spot, apart from the 2 parks. But, the 3 main 5 stars hotels in Admiralty are all connected to the MTR via a shopping complex. Admiralty station is 1 stop away from Tsim Sha Tsui, and 1 stop away from Central. Making it an excellent location.

- 51 min to Disneyland via MTR

-5 min to Ocean Park via MTR

-9 min to Ladies Market via MTR

-5 min to Central via MTR

-6 min on foot to Tamar Park.

Popular hotels:

JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong

Conrad Hong Kong

Island Shangri La

Wan Chai (WC)

There is a huge exhibition centre in WC, so the hotels around WC would be pretty booked up during the time when there are exhibitions in particular international exhibition.

Otherwise Wan Chai is not a bad choice. WC itself is 2 stops away from Central and 1 stop from causeway Bay (a major shopping area). WC has an urban vibe to it. There is a bar and restaurant street in WC also.

- 1 hour to Disneyland via MTR

-22 min to Ocean Park via MTR

-18 min to Ladies Market via MTR

-5 min to Central via MTR

--10 min to Tsim Sha Tsui via MTR

Other Area worth staying in 1...

Mong Kok:

Generally speaking Mong Kok is not considered the best location for staying, too crowded and busy! it's an amazing tourist spot though.  With the exception of the Cordis Hotel, which is connected to the Mong Kok MTR station via the Langham Place Shopping Mall. Mong Kok MTR station is the inter change station of the 2 major MTR lines, meaning it has great access to other destinations.

Prince Edward / Mong Kok East

Very rarely people pick Prince Edward or Mong Kok East as the first choice, but there is one hotel you could consider, it is the Royal Plaza Hotel. The hotel is linked to the Mong Kok East MTR station via the Moko Shopping Mall.

Other areas worth staying in 2...

Causeway Bay:

If you want your trip to be shopping centric, then staying in Causway Bay is not a bad choice as you will be surrounded by shopping malls and boutiques, all sorts! Not much site seeing spots though in Causeway Bay. Popular hotel includes the Regal Hong Kong Hotel

Should I stay in Disney?

Disneyland has 3 wonderful hotels attached to it, but Disneyland is pretty far away from the centre. at least 1 hour by train. Hong Kong Disneyland is not as big as it's cousins in the rest of the world, so a lot of people say it can be done in a day. So it is better just to spend an hour to get there for a day and stay in the city for the rest of your vacation.
